It preserves the original author when the patch is applied by git.
Otherwise the author of the email would be classified as the author of
the patch, which is not the correct thing to have happen a lot of times
(like this one.)

Sorry, that was not what I meant. The patch had no changelog at the
top, and I was complaining about that fact.
