I normally use dc3dd.  For troublesome disks, gnu ddrescue is the better
choice.

ok. this tool i do not know but i think this is the right way:
ddrescue /dev/sdx /path/to/my/new/drive

If you have spares of the same size, simply duplicate to the spare:

ddrescue -b 4096 /dev/sdx /dev/sdy

ok. i copy the disks to my nas and than i will have a look how many data 
i can recover. if i can many data recover than i buy spare disk. if i 
dont can recover my data than i can copy back from the nas to the disks 
and try my luck with the secound case partiontable

i started the copy to my nas with this command:
with simple: ddrescue /dev/sdb /mnt/nas/TEMP/sdb.dd

the rate over the network is good with 112mb/s
i think i will finish the copy tomorrow.

if i can copy data. is there a way to check the files of consistency?
