Hi Steven

I know for a fact that NASA and JPL use free and open source software
internally. They probably have an appropriate procedure to evaluate
such software -- perhaps one that is a bit different from treating the
FOSS project as if it were an old-style software vendor.

Alternatively, there are a couple of companies that offer git-related
services (hosting, training...); their people are on this list, or you
can look at the 'hosting' section of http://git-scm.com/tools
