[net-next PATCH v5 3/3] net: reserve ports for applications using fixed port numbers

From: Octavian Purdila <hidden>
Date: 2010-02-18 19:34:42
Also in: lkml
Subsystem: documentation, infiniband subsystem, networking [general], networking [ipv4/ipv6], networking [tcp], sctp protocol, the rest, user datagram protocol (udp) · Maintainers: Jonathan Corbet, Jason Gunthorpe, Leon Romanovsky, "David S. Miller", Eric Dumazet, Jakub Kicinski, Paolo Abeni, David Ahern, Ido Schimmel, Neal Cardwell, Marcelo Ricardo Leitner, Xin Long, Linus Torvalds, Willem de Bruijn

This patch introduces /proc/sys/net/ipv4/ip_local_reserved_ports which
allows users to reserve ports for third-party applications.

The reserved ports will not be used by automatic port assignments
(e.g. when calling connect() or bind() with port number 0). Explicit
port allocation behavior is unchanged.
