Here is the patch, against 2.4.20 devel but I think it will apply
against BK HEAD. Comments welcome :-)

Can you let me know if this applies cleanly to the current linux-2.4
tree (Or, 2.4.21-pre7 tarball)?  If not, can you generate a patch
against this?  Thanks.
