these tools along with BootX are fine for some situations, but you 
forget to mention LILO which works more then 90% of the time on intel 
hardware, it does not require windows, it does not require its own 
dedicated partition.  it works very very well.

Listen, these are issues we've been working on and this is the logical and
WORKING answer.
