Re: No WLAN on DELL XPS L702x with Ubuntu 12.04LTS (64Bit)

Hi Emmanuel,

unfortunately, Christian doesn't know how to handle a mailing list.
That's why I'm forwarding his answers for the list and may be for you, too.

He wrote, too, that the installation of compat-wireless (unfortunately,
he didn't told me which version), didn't changed the situation.

I attached for him the output of
options iwlwifi debug=0xffffffff

The last part of it:

[ 675.594758] iwlwifi 0000:03:00.0: Failed to run INIT ucode: -5
[ 675.594863] iwlwifi 0000:03:00.0: Unable to initialize device.

I hope this debug output can help you to find the problem!

on an DELL XPS L702x under Ubuntu 12.04LTS (64Bit) the WLAN is not working.
The network manager show the message
"device is no ready"
How long does the boot take? (From the time you press the power button
until you see the message in the logs).

Can you please add a file (let's say iwlwifi.conf) in
/etc/modprobe.conf with content:
options iwlwifi debug=0xffffffff

And send the output.

Is this a laptop from a big corporate?
The Laptop is original from DELL produced in china.
