I've attached a ser2net patch for this.  Could you try it out?
It's a good start, but it's not enough. cyclades-ser-cli doesn't finished 
the initialization; it seems to be waiting for ACKs for the 
SET-MODEMSTATE-MASK op.

not very explicit about which way is most correct. The ser2net approach

software needs to handle both cases.
