[PATCH v4 05/12] drm/bridge/synopsys: dw-hdmi: don't clobber drvdata
From: Jernej Skrabec <hidden>
Date: 2018-02-07 21:17:44
Also in:
dri-devel, linux-arm-kernel, linux-clk, lkml
Subsystem:
arm/rockchip soc support, drm drivers, drm drivers and misc gpu patches, drm drivers for amlogic socs, drm drivers for bridge chips, drm drivers for rockchip, the rest · Maintainers:
Heiko Stuebner, David Airlie, Simona Vetter, Maarten Lankhorst, Maxime Ripard, Thomas Zimmermann, Neil Armstrong, Andrzej Hajda, Robert Foss, Sandy Huang, Heiko Stübner, Andy Yan, Linus Torvalds
dw_hdmi shouldn't set drvdata since some drivers might need to store
it's own data there. Rework dw_hdmi in a way to return struct dw_hdmi
instead to store it in drvdata. This way drivers are responsible to
store and pass structure when needed.
Idea was taken from the following commit:
8242ecbd597d ("drm/bridge/synopsys: stop clobbering drvdata")
