I believe this was related to a viro's linux commit 9591718a5a.

can you clarify which kernel version(s) would have worked with this
version of systemtap?  thanks.

According to http://sourceware.org/ml/systemtap/2011-q1/msg00036.html,
it was run with 2.6.9 ... 2.6.37.
