Yeah, I think it simply does not work.

  $ >main-order
  $ mkdir subdir && >subdir/sub-order
  $ cd subdir
  $ git show -Osub-order
  fatal: failed to read orderfile 'sub-order': No such file or directory
  $ git show -Omain-order
  [shows diff]
