This is an overdue clean-up and because nobody else is working in the area, it is good to do so either as a preliminary clean-up or as a after-the-dust-settles clean-up for this series. These whitespace issues are not the only ones in this script that need modernizing, though. Preparation of "expect" outside tests makes this script look quite old fashioned, for example.
