This is an interesting idea. I like it.
This is called a hackathon, and I had the pleasure of attending three of
them. It is an extremely productive time, although you have to prepare
to fall into a black hole after them, when all the fun suddenly stops.

As for dates: I am pretty free. However, I kind of hoped to pre-/append
it to the GSoC summit, since I cannot afford to pay the flight, but I
could afford to pay the difference to wherever else than Mountain View
the Gitogether would take place.
I think that if it's just after/before the Mentor Summit it makes no sense
for it to be outside Mountain View. As Shawn said there are many git users
that will be there for the summit, so we want to make it easy for them to
attend the GitTogether.
All this, of course, provided that Google invites us, and that I am
actually one of the few lucky mentors being allowed to come.
I don't think I deserve/want to go to the Google SoC Mentor Summit but I
would apprieciate if some of the mentor money could fund some of my travel
expenses.

By the way I created this page on the wiki:

http://git.or.cz/gitwiki/GitTogether

If someone see things to add, please do so.

Thanks,
Christian.
