GPL license for a _font_?  Besides I think that _using_ font in
a work, as opposed to adding it to some software to use, is permitted
by any proprietary font license / trademark, but IANAL.

Done without the use of any font at all.

I don't think that was on the wiki before. Henrik's version (which
was, and was being discussed here) *is* based on Helvetica.

Both SVG version mentioned above, and your logos can be now found at
http://git.or.cz/gitwiki/GitRelatedLogos (please correct any mistakes).
