git-fetch while on "(no branch)"

Hello, Just ran this while on a detached HEAD. $ git fetch fatal: ref HEAD is not a symbolic ref fatal: ref HEAD is not a symbolic ref fatal: ref HEAD is not a symbolic ref remote: Generating pack... ...etc...
