Is there a recipe or a layer that uses the repo fetcher?

I am trying to understand and use the repo fetcher. I am on Dunfell release.
I read the documentation for repo fetcher here:

When trying to use it I am having some mixed results, but I am not entirely sure if I am even
using it the right recommended way.

Are there any good recipes layers that use this fetcher, I would like to refer.
