Dear Linux folks,
On the Intel Kaby Lake laptop Dell XPS 13 9360, I suspended it on one
location and detached the Dell DA300 USB-C “mini dock” there, and at a
different place resumed it from ACPI S3 and plugged in an LMP mini Dock.
As happens sometimes before, the network interface wasn’t detected
(`drivers/net/usb/r8152.c`). Normally re-plugging works, but this time,
and didn’t. Only suspending the system and resuming fixed it. I enabled
USB dynamic debug with
echo 'file drivers/usb/* +p' | sudo tee
/sys/kernel/debug/dynamic_debug/control
after it didn’t work for some time.
Please find the Linux messages attached. It should start from
[30591.582919] PM: suspend entry (deep)
on.
It may be related to the issue I reported last year, analyzed by Mathias
already but I didn’t respond yet [1].
No other devices are attached to the USB-C mini dock.
Kind regards,
Paul
