Status of loopback-tcp-bypass aka "TCP Friends"

Hi,

can someone please shed light on the status of the "TCP friends" feature
that was discussed some time ago? I've been trying to find mails/patches
but everything seems to be more than a few months old. Just curious
whether this is still planned.
