Application linking and how to read lxt971's MII registers

Hi all,
    I am now using ELDK 3.0 with MPC8270 board. There is
a LXT971 on board.  I wonder how can I read registers of LXt971,
such as status register?
    Then, with GCC as the toolchain, which is the
ld.script file which is used by make when we compile and link the
application?
