setting PIO and DMA programatically!!!!!!!!!!

Hello all,
    In the development of filesystem i have a requirement for both PIO
and DMA for the data transfer. how can i set both PIO and DMA
simulateounsly and use the kernel read system call. is it possible and
how, can any body give information to it.
