Questions about pthreads: recursive mutex

Hi all:

	I am newbie in threads programing in Linux.
	I am usign the mvista release binaries and includes.
	I have not problems with the use of most of the functions.
	But i need to use the recursive mutex and i can not use because the
pthread.h says that i need to have defined __USE_GNU (pthread.h). And i have
not defined those.
	Somebody can tell me how can i use this (or similar) function?

	Excuseme if the question are so obvious.
