Airport and computer-to-computer

Say, is there any way to set up a computer-to-computer (without base
station) AirPort network with the current driver/tool set? I have an iBook
and a G4 with AirPort cards, and it'd be nice if I don't have to buy a $300
base station :)

Thanks,
Robbie Thompson
