linux-pmac-stable: no usb mouse on iMac

Hi!

I tried to compile/install the linux-pmac-stable kernel (2.2.14pre9) on an old
(bondi blue) iMac.  It seems to work (at least it boots), but the usb mouse does
not work.  The boot messages list something like "USB mouse found", but it does
not react to any movements or clicks, even if it is plugged directly into the
computer (not into the keyboard).  Interestingly, with the same kernel a Contour
UniMouse (also USB) on a "Lombard" Powerbook works fine.  Any ideas?
