Hi Mark,

First bad commit (maybe != root cause):

tree:   https://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/kvmarm/kvmarm.git next
head:   8c33df1afd86c611da8473dc6fc5f3af3dabe984
commit: bd7d95cafb499e24903b7d21f9eeb2c5208160c2 [2/28] arm64: KVM: Consistently advance singlestep when emulating instructions
config: ia64-allmodconfig (attached as .config)
compiler: ia64-linux-gcc (GCC) 8.1.0
reproduce:
        wget https://raw.githubusercontent.com/intel/lkp-tests/master/sbin/make.cross -O ~/bin/make.cross
        chmod +x ~/bin/make.cross
        git checkout bd7d95cafb499e24903b7d21f9eeb2c5208160c2
        # save the attached .config to linux build tree
        GCC_VERSION=8.1.0 make.cross ARCH=ia64

Note: the kvmarm/next HEAD 8c33df1afd86c611da8473dc6fc5f3af3dabe984 builds fine.
      It only hurts bisectibility.
