Either You haven't configured Local APIC in your system.
Or you are using UP kernel on an HT capable system.
Those are the most likely situations when this message
is printed. Its not a critical message.
Probably, we should remove "error" out of that message
and make it a warning.
Thanks,
Venki

Subject: [ACPI] Error getting cpuindex for acpiid
Hi!
I am using vanilla kernel 2.6.8.1 + acpi-20040715-2.6.8
on Toshiba
A30-303 - P4 3.06 GHz.
Everything seems to be OK, but in dmesg I have this:
ACPI: Processor [CPU0] (supports C1 C2, 8 throttling states)
acpi_processor-2250 [50] acpi_processor_get_inf: Error getting
cpuindex
for acpiid 0x1
It's something important?
PS: same mesage with 2.6.7 + acpi-20040715-2.6.7
