.gitconfig permissions

I was setting StGIT options to send mail; I need SMTP authentication so I'd like to set password to avoid typing it every time. After setting options I checked and ~/.gitconfig was created with 664 permissions. Given it may contain sensitive options, would not 600 default be better? Thank you! -andrey
